Established in 2024, we foster a vibrant creative community in the Bronx's fashion industry by hosting inclusive events and empowering diverse artists through free or low-cost networking opportunities.
To bring together artists from various disciplines within the Bronx
through inclusive events that foster collaboration and artistic
expression.
We envision a world where everyone has access and empowers diverse artists in the Bronx's fashion industry by offering accessible programs, including free or low-cost events, to foster community and elevate local talent.
Breatives Project, founded by Fatmata Kamara, emerged from a deep passion for the Bronx's creative scene. Over four years of modeling, she recognized a significant lack of dedicated spaces and opportunities for artistic expression within the borough. While there are many opportunities for traditional artists, such as sculptors and painters, there is a notable absence of spaces for creatives like set designers, models, photographers, stylists, and hair and makeup artists. The Bronx is known for its rich cultural mix and has always been part of important pop culture innovations and movements. Remarkably, nearly 95% of the photoshoots and runway events she participated in occurred outside the Bronx, a reality shared by many local creatives.
While some resources exist, they remain underutilized compared to neighboring hubs like Harlem, Queens, and Brooklyn. Despite these challenges, occasional events have shown the potential for fostering connections among artists. Breatives Project seeks to build on this potential by providing a platform for models, photographers, makeup artists, musicians, stylists, and visual artists to connect and collaborate.
The mission is to cultivate a collaborative environment that emphasizes unconventional artistic expression, bridging the gap in the local creative landscape. By hosting inclusive events, Breatives Project aims to empower Bronx artists and nurture a thriving creative ecosystem that unlocks the borough’s full artistic potential.
